It's 10:00- Do you know where your pets are? If you are missing a dog or cat, the first place you should contact is the the City of Tuttle Animal Shelter. Many residents of Tuttle may not know that the city does have an Animal Control Department. Strays are picked up and will be held for 3-5 days before being euthanized unless claimed by the owners or adopted. Beautiful and healthy animals of all breeds move through the shelter on a regular basis. Most are never claimed.
Allowing pets to stray can be dangerous both to people and the animals. Besides the danger of biting a person, or being hit by passing vehicles, roaming pets are exposed to additional diseases and parasites. Failure to spay and neuter pets and allowing them to stray is everyone's problem. The costs to local government to capture, house and euthanize animals are funded by local taxes.
We are enjoying the "country living" atmosphere of our town, but we have a responsibility to our pets and neighbors to keep our pets in a secure fenced area. Dogs should not leave the owner's property unless on a secure leash.
If you are looking for a lost or new pet, please check with the Animal Shelter. Besides the cute and loveable mixed breeds, many pure bred dogs often wind up there. Labrador Retrievers, Shi Zhu's, Beagles, Chihuahuas, and German Shepherds, just to name a few are often in need of rescue. Make Tuttle a better place for all residents including our pets.
