The Friends of the Mustang Library Chocolate Festival will be held Friday, Feb. 12, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Mustang Town Center. An array of chocolate treats will be on hand for people to taste or to purchase as gifts. Tickets are $8 for six tastes.
“Businesses, civic groups and individuals who are interested in having a table at the festival should contact us as soon as possible,” said event chair Cyndi Grimes. “Chocolate is something everyone loves and last year the attendance was well over 600 people. It is a fun community event that benefits the Mustang Public Library.”
The Chocolate Festival will be held at the Mustang Town Center, located at 1201 N. Mustang Road. Last year, there were chocolate fountains, all types of candy, cheese cakes, torts, brownies, cakes and cookies. Those interested in participating in the Chocolate Festival will need to contact the event chair Cyndi Grimes at 405-323-9370 to reserve a table. Tables are available at no charge and the Friends will provide the table cloths.
“There will be awards for Best Tasting Chocolate and Most Elaborate Table,” said Grimes. “Winners will be chosen by popular vote and announced before the end of the evening.”
All of the proceeds from the Chocolate Festival will be used by the Friends for projects at the Mustang Library. Over the years, the Friends have purchased public computer workstations, laptops for the computer training lab, software, books, educational programming, instructional classes plus an endowment to support the annual Summer Reading Program for children and teens.
“Last year the library circulated 175,307 items and served over 23,000 card holders,” said Friends President Carolyn Klepper. “It continues to be a busy place. We support the library with the extras so that it can better serve the community. We want it to be a library for the entire community – all ages,” says Klepper.
For more information about the Chocolate Festival or to reserve a table, please contact the event chair person Cyndi Grimes at 405-323-9370 or by email at innovativeinsurance@cox.net
