TCC to host Christmas store

Tuttle Christian Church would like to serve kids in the community by hosting a fun, Christmas event. Children, 3 years through 6th grade, are invited to come and shop for their loved ones. Gifts will be priced from 25 cents to $3. The volunteers will then wrap each gift chosen. There will be a waiting room for parents, since only the children are allowed to go in the store. We will be open Thursday, Dec. 17, from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, from 3 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.; and Saturday, Dec. 19, from 9 a.m. until noon. All proceeds from this event will go towards buying gifts for the next year’s store to make it bigger and better for the kids. For questions, please call the church office at 381-2286.



Gracemont plans Bluegrass concert

Gracemont presents its third annual Bluegrass Music Concert, Jan. 30, in the Multi-Purpose Building, 5th & Gracemont, Gracemont, featuring Richard McGlothlin & Boggy River Bluegrass. Admission is $10, and includes dinner. Kids under 10 years are free. Dinner starts at 5:30 p.m., concert at 7 p.m.  For more information call 405-641-2318.



Fire Department requests toys

The Tuttle Fire Department is needing help this year with it’s “Toys for Tots. You may take your toy to the Tuttle Fire Department, Chickasha Bank & Trust, or Sooner State Bank. If you have any questions please call WJ Morgan at 405-381-4467.



Medicare counseling available

Are you confused about Medicare? Do you want to make sure you’re getting the best price for your Part D Plan? Free Medicare Counseling will be available Dec. 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Washita Valley Community Action Council, 205 W. Chickasha Avenue. Certified SHIP Counselors will be offering assistance in Part D selection and enrollment. The Social Security Administration will be offering LIS application assistance. Hadlock’s free display open

Come visit and enjoy the Hadlock’s Christmas display of dolls, trains, villages, collectibles and much more. It’s free to the public and cameras are encouraged. The display is located in Tuttle. From the Cimarron Road traffic signal, go two-and-a-half miles east on Hwy. 37. The house is on the south side, facing north. The display will be open Thursdays and Fridays from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there Saturday nights from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. The display closes Christmas Eve at 8:30 p.m. so Santa can make his deliveries.



Care Center to host dinner

The Tuttle Care Center will host a resident Christmas Party at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17. There will be entertainment and snacks, so please mark your calendars and come celebrate with your loved ones. P.S. Santa will also be here. Our Christmas Lunch will be held Friday, Dec. 25. Please make your reservations for Christmas lunch with Debbie or Jennifer if you are going to join your friend or loved one by Tuesday, Dec. 22, so that we can set up the dining areas accordingly. There is no charge to have lunch. To make reservations or to donate to our fundraisers please contact Debbie or Jennifer at 381-3363. 



English as a second language

An adult (16 years and older) based class for individuals whose first language is not English is held Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Mustang. Enroll in person for free class. Call 405-222-6562 for information.



Christmas decorating contest set

The Tuttle Chamber of Commerce is having a Christmas Decorating Contest on Dec. 19. Prizes for first, second and third place winners will be awarded. Learning Center offers classes

Free GED prep, adult basic education and family literacy classes are offered in Tuttle, Mustang and Newcastle. These classes are for adults who need to work on basic educational skills or prepare for their GED. In Tuttle, the classes meet on Tuesday and Thursday, 6-9 p.m. at the Tuttle High School; in Mustang, the classes meet on Monday 5:30 - 8 p.m. and Tuesday 12:30 - 3 p.m. at the Mustang Wild Horse Towne Center; and in Newcastle, the classes are held from 5:30 - 8 p.m. For more information, call 405-222-6562.



Boosters sell commemorative bricks

The Tuttle Football Boosters Club will be selling bricks that will go on the new wall that will be in front of the ticket booth. Three lines of engraving are available on the bricks and may feature student or alumni names, sports positions played or other information. The cost is $50 per brick. GED Prep “Distance Learning”

Open enrollment for the GED/Distance Learning can be made by contacting the Adult Learning Center, 628 W. Kansas, Chickasha. Students must have reliable internet access with email address, possess basic computer skills, maintain a working phone connection, pre and post-test taken at the ALC, work a minimum of six hours weekly, possess a high level of motivation, score a minimum of 8.0 TABE pre-assessment and 9.0 on reading pre--assessment.
