Georgia Anita (Hardesty) Bazhaw

Memorial services for Georgia Anita (Hardesty) Bazhaw were held Friday, Sept. 25, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Tuttle.

Georgia Anita (Hardesty) Bazhaw died at her home in Tuttle Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009. She was born April 25, 1924 at the family homestead in Tuttle, the youngest daughter of William Clay and Reka (Ahrens) Hardesty.

She married Elbert Bazhaw on Oct. 10, 1943. Georgia graduated from Tuttle High School in 1942 and the Wesley School of Nursing in 1945. She was a surgical RN at Wesley Hospital, which later became Presbyterian Hospital. She retired from there in 1987.

She also worked on the family farms all her life, canning, sewing and helping Elbert. She loved antiques and entertaining, particularly at their annual New Year’s Eve parties. She enjoyed traveling and was an avid reader. She was a member of the Tuttle Round-Up Club and a life-long member of the Tuttle United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers and sisters, Edith Hardesty Copeland, Bill Hardesty, Emma Hardesty Skaggs, Earnest Hardesty, Ben Hardesty, Genevieve Hardesty Curlee, Carl Hardesty, Evelyn Hardesty Lee and James Hardesty.

She is survived by her husband Elbert Bazhaw of the home, daughters Pat Pearce of Chandler and Jo Bazhaw of Tuttle, grandsons Clay Pearce and his wife Amy of Owasso and Cliff Pearce and his wife Terri of Wayne, Ill., five great grandchildren, Erin, Lindsey and Brendan Pearce of Owasso, Casey and Jessica Pearce of Wayne, Ill., as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many good friends.

Memorials may be made to the Tuttle Library fund, the Tuttle United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice
