  • Some people lie, when the truth sounds better Even at the end, Kieran McMullen couldn’t find it in him to tell the truth.

On Monday, a matter of minutes after he told his staff he was “retiring” he told me there were no developments on his status and with his impending trial.

I guess he thought he was pulling one over on me. That ex-sheriff, he’s such a big joker.

  • Community still remembers Ever since I started writing for the Tuttle Times eight years ago, readers have often asked what has happened in the case of Audra Matheny.

Occasionally we would get a call or an e-mail at the office from one of Audra’s classmates asking for more information.

I looked back at old newspapers to see what had transpired, but the coverage wasn’t complete. The story after Audra’s murder was less than two inches long, and was not followed up until the single story that ran after Steve Wilson’s murder conviction.

  • Series revives memories of Audra On Monday, two people told me how much they appreciated the series the paper is running about Audra Matheny and Steve Wilson.

One was photographer Don Snart, who told me he couldn’t understand why this was the first he was hearing about Audra’s murder. His family lived in Tuttle at the time, and his daughters were only a few years older than she was, but they never heard a thing about it.

The other was city attorney David Perryman, who said that he had known the family, and that they had attended services at the Church of Christ together. Perryman said that he had even hosted fellowships at his house, and the Wilson family had attended.

Who in Tuttle could have resisted going back one more time?
