Tuttle moved to within one win of its second consecutive District 3A-1 Championship by thumping Cache, 44-0, Friday night.
Now all the Tigers have to do is beat either Anadarko (6-2) or Santa Fe South (2-6) to secure the title and two home playoff games.
The Tigers will play host to Anadarko on Senior Night at 7:30 p.m. It will be the final regular season outing at Bill Hinkle Field for 10 seniors, but some of them may not be in the lineup. Though the Tigers dominated Cache on the scoreboard, they took their lumps physically.
Middle linebacker and running back Ethan Biddy, one of the most heralded players in 3A, is questionable with a hip pointer (bruise). Biddy practiced Monday, but Tuttle coach Phil Koons wasn't certain the Tigers' leading rusher and tackler would play Friday. Though he practiced Monday, coaches kept Biddy from contact.
Junior Kyle Osborn, a 6-foot-4, 282-pound lineman, will miss two to four weeks with a broken toe. Someone stepped on Osborn's foot during the first half Friday, and coaches originally thought Osborn might be suffering from turf-toe.
But further examinations revealed the break. Koons said he thought Osborn has a chance to be back for the playoffs.
Also, Anderson Depee, who had just begun to assert himself at fullback, missed practice Monday with a deep thigh bruise, and his availability for Friday is in question.
Koons said tight end Jake Garrett will move to the interior line and replace Osborn. Garrett played inside in previous seasons.
Junior Taner Day will fill the void at tight end.
Anadarko, which jumped to the school's first-ever 5-0 start, offers a versatile offense full of weapons, Koons said.
"It will be a good challenge," the longtime coach said. "They're really talented. Like a lot of teams, they spread you out, but they want to run it. They're a running team, and they have a lot of weapons."
Sheldon Wilson is the Warriors' leading rusher with 894 yards on 113 carries.
He's scored 13 rushing touchdowns and averages 7.91 yards per attempt.
Chandler Barr has also found some success, rushing for 602 yards on 71 attempt. He's ran for 11 touchdowns.
Barr is a transfer from Minco.
Tuttle 44, Cache 0
Biddy rushed for 62 yards and a touchdown, and Bryce Ebert got his third punt return for a touchdown this season, as the Tigers took care of outmatched Cache.
Biddy opened the scoring on a 3-yard plunge to cap the Tigers’ first offensive series. Quarterback Tanner Koons added a 6-yard scoring jaunt, and Ebert returned a punt 59 yards for a score.
Kicker Bobby Stonebraker nailed a 23-yard field goal to give Tuttle a 23-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Depee scored on a 13-yard run, and Dylan Copenbarger scored from 3 yards out. Sophomore Garrett Gibson closed the scoring with a touchdown.
Tuttle gained 275 yards on the ground to Cache’s 41. The Tuttle defense limited Cache to four first downs.
The Tigers punted once, late in the second half.
