TOMMY & JANET YEAKLEY

To Celebrate: Aug. 14, 2009

The Children of Tommy and Janet Yeakley would like to announce the upcoming 50th wedding anniversary of their parents on Friday, Aug. 14, 2009.

Fifty years ago, our parents made the ultimate commitment before family and God. They were joined in Holy Matrimony on Aug. 14, 1959 at the home of the late Frank and Maudie Yeakley in Tuttle by Reverend Ralph McDaniel.

They met in 1958 when Janet’s parents, the late Jack and Ruth Pendley, opened a small café on main street in Tuttle.

Janet would see Tommy’s 1956 Chevy racing down the main street of Tuttle with Chief of Police Charlie Marshall chasing after him.

One special day, he came into the café and their paths crossed. Their destiny from then on has been paved by God.

In 1971, after 13 years living in Oklahoma City, they moved their family back to the small town of Tuttle. It is in Tuttle where their family has grown. Tommy and Janet are very active in the community and their church. When their children were younger, they were always class parents, FHA parents, volunteer for anything parents, the parents who had every kid at their house to eat lunch, the parents who took the road trips to all the games, and the parents that people thought were insane for having too many kids over for slumber parties.

They still attend almost every Tuttle sporting event and enjoy cheering for the children of this community. Since 1993, Tommy and Janet have managed one of the area food banks sponsored by the Tuttle Ministerial Alliance. They truly enjoy the ministry of helping people, and do so on a daily basis.

Tommy is also a very active member of the Walker’s Coffee Shop crew where they meet twice a day, rain or shine.

Mom and Dad, we are so very privileged to be blessed with such wonderful parents. You two have shown us that with love, endurance and compassion we can conquer the world.

It’s your strong Christian values that we are now passing on to our children. We love you. Your grandchildren adore you, and we all respect you. God Bless you in the next years to come.

We love you, your children,

Tami Yeakley, Kelli and Dan Dougherty, Craig and Kelly Yeakley, Shannon and Jake Moomey and grandchildren Brooke Singletary, Derek and Amber Dougherty, Kyle Cook, Jalyn and Ty Yeakley, and Jeena and Hunter Moomey.
